Wooden fences come in solid (block view), segmented (partial view) and picket styles. They are not the only option. There are number of styles available. Among all the styles the most popular one is the picket fence style. Mostly the design of the picket style is simple and those with space in between allow the wind to pass through it easily. Make use of those picket style made of western cedar wood as it is ideal for above the ground applications, its weathering properties in which there is less warping of components and natural tendency to resist insect infestation. The advantages of cedar wood are that it does not require preservative or stain. When it is installed it gives a pleasant aroma and fine reddish color and the treatment will help the beautiful color to last long. When exposed to weather for long the western cedar wood turns to silvery gray.
Not only the western cedar wood but also the redwood, pine and locust treated with CCA can be used as wooden fencing. The wooden fences look good and attractive but needs lot of maintenance and care. Once the wooden fence is installed you cannot paint until and unless the wood expels extra moisture. Paint the fence and apply sealant coat to protect from the weather. A properly constructed wooden fence should be high enough which will prevent the dog from going on the top. The bottom of the wood wall sits above the ground and if your dog is a real digger he won’t be able to do so as it normally sits near to the wall or fence.
